If your community is selected to participate, a notification will be sent to your community’s administration within six (6) weeks of the application deadline.
Step 1: Community Outreach Planning
Program staff will contact the Project Lead to arrange a meeting to determine and plan the marketing, outreach and recruitment activities (e.g., booth at a community event, article in local newsletter, etc.) appropriate for engaging residents and businesses in your community.
The Project Lead is a person retained by the participant community to assist program staff with implementation. The program will provide a wage subsidy to participating First Nations to compensate for the Project Lead’s time.
Step 2: Community Outreach Deployment
Program staff will work with the Project Lead to deploy a marketing, outreach and recruitment plan in the community. This may include a kick-off event hosted by a celebrity spokesperson, radio and newspaper advertisements, and social media recruitment.
The project lead and trained Community Canvassers will help residents and business owners in completing applications to participate. Applications will be assessed by program staff using program rules and eligibility criteria. Program staff will then inform all applicants within 6 weeks of the status of their applications.
Step 3: Program Delivery
Program staff, including spokespersons, Project Leads, Community Canvassers, and technicians, will deliver the program in accordance with the terms and conditions.
