All First Nation communities in Ontario can apply to participate in the program. In the first two years of the program, 29 First Nations communities, including five remote communities, were selected to implement conservation measures to meet their energy needs. In 2015, up to 17 communities will be selected for participation.
To participate, First Nation communities must complete an application. Participating communities will be selected based on their ability to meet the following qualifying criteria:

The ABORIGINAL CONSERVATION PROGRAM Program Manager will work closely with participating communities to deliver:
To participate in the ABORIGINAL CONSERVATION PROGRAM, First Nation communities should submit an application by January 31, 2015.
In 2015, up to 17 communities with the highest application scores will be selected for participation. All applicants will receive a written debrief on their application within six (6) weeks of the application deadline.
Applications submitted from communities that were not selected in the first two years of the program will be automatically considered for the third year of the program; eligible applicants will not be required to re-apply.
